    Default Bury your thread ?

Ok on machine quilting. When I start I bring the bottom thread up and start sewing. So can I cut these threads right off? (thats what I have been doing all along) or do they have to be buried? I use a locking stitch so just thought I could cut them right off. also when I end I just use the locking stitch and then cut the front off and the back off. Is this the correct way and will it be okay since Im using a locking stitch at the beginning and end.

Patrice, that's exactly how I do my thread. No problems at all.

Me too! I did have a few loose stitches here and there when doing the free motion on the machine and I just try to go back over that area. Yup - as long as you have a locking stitch, I don't see a problem.

So I have an older quilting machine....nothing fancy like locking stitches. BUT...if I do several stitches in one spot before moving, that would work the same way as a locking stitch, right???? That is my plan.

Suzy, that is right...a couple of stitches in one place is all you need. Have fun with it!

Thanks, Mimi. I inherited my mom's old quilting machine and it terrifies me. I am procrastinating so much about just getting down there and practicing. I have sheets laid out.....but have yet to begin. I MUST work on this!

Just steel up your nerve and "dive" in...that's what I do...especially when trying something new...I am always afraid but have found out that if I jump right in my fears were for nought...hope this helps you.
