    Red face HEXAGON HELP

While recuping from shoulder surgery last winter I English paper pieced a gazillion hexagons (1 inch) and now have a staggering number of hexagon posies (the center and one full round of 6). While I love the traditional setting for a Grandmother's Flower Garden, I want something that's really different. Does anyone have an idea for something out of the ordinary? I have thought about doing something free form, like a Monet painting; also, alternating vertical strips of posies with strips of print fabric.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated......Barb

You may find this site helpful. Sorry you had to go through shoulder surgery. Glad you are better and was able to find a useful activity while recouping. Admire anyone that can do paper piecing..especially hexagons...

GlendaSue....I buy my English paper foundations through Paper Pieces.....great service from them. I have combed through their entire site and like everything there - I just haven't found the right setting yet. Yes, it was a trick wedging myself into the corner of a chair to sew all those hexagons by hand. I probably will never do another hexagon project, at least not by hand! I bought the demi hex from MSQSC, which makes it possible to sew the units together without any Y seams. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but the tutorial is great. Of course, Jenny makes everything look easy except using her rotary cutter. It seems that scissors and rotary cutters are a trial for lefties. Thanks for your suggestion....Barb

    Barb--
Here's a suggestion: google "hexagon quilt blocks" and then hit "images". You'll get lots of pictures that might give you some inspiration. My hat comes off to you. That's one quilt I have never attempted.
