    Default SITD & Walking Foot.

I'm doing a bit of ditch stitching using my walking foot. I've noticed that the quilt (wall hanging) doesn't really look quilted at all.

My pieces aren't that close together admittedly, but is the flat look because of that or because I've used the walking foot? I did some FMQ practice the other day and it looked quilted and on the same piece I did a bit with the walking foot and that didn't look as puffy, so I was wondering if I was imagining it or is the walking foot flattening it.

I think you will have more 'puff' once it is washed and dried. I don't usually use a walking foot for stitch in the ditch though, and sometimes that has caused it's own set of problems.

Washing and drying puffs it up. I was so happy to see my grinch quilt puffed up. It helped hide some (lots actually) of not-so-perfect stitches.

The walking foot isn't going to flatten out your quilt. It will puff up and crinkle once it is washed and dried.
