I want to learn to do this, too.... I believe big stitch quilting calls for Perle cotton....

Every time I try big stitching....which I love the look of....I have problems, because I normally use a size 12 betweens, and make tiny stitches... It's just hard to get used to seeing the stitches.... But, I have a quilt that needs to get DONE, so I'm ready to give it another shot.... The stitches will look pretty against the bright Ticklish fabrics...

Marilyn... I love the idea of using pretty embroidery floss.... I haven't used it for anything since I was a kid, and Gramma tried to teach me go embroider... Do you separate the threads any? I'd like to try it...

Looks good! I really do like the color of the thread you are using.

Thanks for the link! I really enjoyed the video.

I have another dumb question for trained hand quilters: how must the stitches look like in the back? All the pics and videos I've seen show the front (top) of the quilt, none shows how the back ends up. In all my stitches, at the back I only cought a few threads of the backing at every stitch. The quilting shows on the back like lines of very tiny dots. It is how it is supposed to be?

The stitches on the back should be the same length as the ones on the front. When I first tried it I bought a piece of fabric that had little squares that looked like a pieced quilt. I made a sandwich out of it and practiced. It really didn't take long to get the hang of it. Like anything else, it just takes a little practice.

I am using 2 strands. I have all this embroidery thread and figure I might as well use it.
