Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
i donated a lot of my fabric i had collected to my local senior center. i figured they might be able to use it.
Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
I think there is a place here on the Forum where you can swap fabric. Not sure where though.
Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
If you want to trade fabric, check out the Groups tab. There's one called I Don't Want It. You can post there if you want.
If you want a way to use up some of your stash, there are several groups that quilt for charities.
I know our local Project Linus happily accepts donations of fabric to share with people who are making quilts to donate to the group.
Kind of a nice problem to have,, better too much instead of too little :)

I mostly donate to our local humane society thrift shop. There is a hospital thrift shop too. But my heart is with the animals.

Send your leftover stash to kwit05 :0. She has a thread this morning wondering how to build her stash and you have stash wondering how to reduce it.

Blondie, the founder of the Group Circles of Comfort here on M* can always use scraps as she turns them into circles for the COC quilts or sashing, block backgrounds, etc. Bigger pieces can be used for the backing. Please consider sending them to her. :)

There are many of us on here that donate quilts to charity that you could donate the fabric to. I donate quilts to the senior centers and would be happy to use any fabric that you have. I would pay for shipping as well. I know there are other groups as well such as the http://forum.missouriquiltco.com/gro...rt-quilts.html and the http://forum.missouriquiltco.com/gro...ilt-group.html. You could also try and sell them in lots on ebay or even on FB.

This is an awesome group!
Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
If you are just wanting to purge, I would also suggest sending them to Blondie. She just posted a few days ago about needing supplies and blocks.
Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
yep - lots of us on here make charity and donation from gifted fabrics. i make them for the quilts for kids project which donates to local childrens hospitals. happy to pay shipping to central florida if you still need a place to rehome some of your stash :D
Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
We have a lot of local ladies who use their scrapes to make quilts for a children's hospital.
Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
Absolutely.... Blondie and the many gals here that do so much for others would love to receive your donations... I urge you to check out the group area and find the addresses... you can communicate by private message or on the group post lists... Thank you for coming forward and asking.. so many people here have a lot to give or share, thru advice, encouragement and charity distribution.... !!!:)
Re: to many scraps what can i do to reduce for buying more
You could even check with your local quilting guild, they usually have a group that makes charity quilts from donations. I help in that group in my guild.
Some weeks ladies bring stacks of fabric (to the guild meetings) and say take as many as you like, other quilter would love that.

Lots of great ideas here, the only charity I can add would be Quilts of Valor.
So many way's to reduce your stash.
You might start with organizing it first though. Not sure trash bags are the right way to store it, but I can't really fault you, I had toddler clothes cut in strips in a trash bag for YEARS waiting on me to figure out how to quilt! :)
I too would love to have more in my stash as I'm really just getting started. But I think charities are the best way to go.
Cheers!
