    Default Ohio Star block HELP!

    Hey out there,

I need some help. My mom loves the Ohio Star quilt block. I just learned how to make it and my block finshed is 12" x 12".

My mom has a king size bed and what she wants is a large star in the center with the 12" x 12" block on each corner the rest filled with backgound.

How in the world do I double the block? I have tried doubling the measurments but dows not help. Can anyone help me out.

So I what I would like is a 24" 24" quilt block in the center.

    I guess...
Please any advice would be helpful
    Thanks God Bless
    Aaron

Starting with the easiest part of the block -

cut 5 - 6 1/2" squares (unfinished center square and four corner squares.)

Using the following method for making flying geese units -

    http://www.connectingthreads.com/tut...st-two_methods

The unfinished size of the four flying geese units is 6 1/2" tall by 12 1/2" wide. Cut one rectangle 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" and two squares that each measure 6 1/2" x 6 1/2"

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

I forgot to mention that you will need 4 of those flying geese units.

Another perfect answer! Aaron, you sure have jumped into quilting with both feet. Very addictive isn't it? Glad you are enjoying it. Don't forget to look at the tutorials as they are very helpful.

I'm lookig forward to seeing your quilts, Aaron! You can start an album here by going to your profile. Cant wait to see the Ohio star when its finished.!

Rebecca....have you considered writing a book to how to enlarge quilt blocks? I would buy it! There are blocks I absolutely love and would like to make a giant center piece but dont know how to enlarge them.
