    Default Sari Silk Quilt

    Hi all.

I have some lovely sari silk and raw silk squirreled away. Have any of you ever used this in quilt making?

    Any opinions or advice?

It might be pretty in a stained glass pattern?

It will make a beautiful quilt. It would require dry-cleaning or professional cleaning. Cannot wash it like the all-cotton quilts.
You may be better off repurposing the silk elsewhere.

Wow you have sari silk! I'm not sure I'd use that in a quilt but it would be beautiful! Maybe a quilt for display or a wall hanging? Sari silk is soooo beautiful - jealous
    Thank you,

Maybe a crazy quilt?? Do you like to embroider?? I've seen absolutely fantastic quilts make of silk & satin like this.
May the road rise up to meet you...
May the wind be always at your back...
May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead...

Thanks all for your comments - I did go to that other thread and got some more great info.

A crazy quilt would be interesting - I also do a lot of beadwork and metalsmithing - this would be an opportunity to put everything together. Maybe a display quilt.

I ordered my fabric from an etsy shop in India - it was reasonable and came quite quickly. I have about 6 metres of a white raw silk I got at a yard sale for $5 - when I unwrapped it, there was 3 metres of a sheer silk gauze folded up inside!
