Here is a D9P I'm making for my SIL for Christmas. I'm so bad at putting colors together so I'm having a hard time deciding what color border (and binding) to use. She's not really a "pink" kinda gal so I'll rule that color out. Any suggesstions?

I like the deep pink in there or white...nice bright colors!
I really like the darker blue floral print. How about a 2 inch white or off white border and then a wider floral border with the same floral print used for binding.
I really like Mia's idea. I bet that would be so pretty.
I agree with Mia in that I'd double border, but I'm a big fan of double borders. I'd use a super pale yellow or off white for the first thin border and probably one of the green prints for the outside border. If I had scraps left over, I'd probably use them to piece binding, but if not, I'd go with a plaid in the same color as the outside border.
Can't wait to see it done! It's so pretty. Is that Garden Song?
I'm drawn to the blues - the one that's sort of periwinkle color. I'd "splash it up" with some of the bright yellow-y orange - just a small bit.
Thanks. I like both Mia's and Summer's ideas. Yes, it's Garden Song by Benatex. I think my LQS carries that line.
I think that deep red would help all the other colors pop! :)
Very nice, Nancy! Agree on the double border....maybe light gold and darker blue?
The double border idea works for me too, Nancy. I'd make the inner narrower one that lovely dark chocolatey brown to give the eye a place to rest and then a final burst of colour for the final border and binding. Perhaps one of the lovely florals from the D9P.

Wow! Lot's of different opinions. When you take it to the LQS you might ask the salespeople to help you as well. I've had good results with their suggestions. You might find it easier to decide once you get the quilt top next to some of the fabrics in the shop.
What is your sil's favorite color? Maybe go with that for the border if it is one of the colors in there. I would prefer to see a dark border, it would really frame it and set it off. You could lay a strip of fabric the color you like beside it to help you see what it would look like. Sometimes I do that and take a picture of it. The picture helps you to determine if it looks good. Have fun!
I think navy would be really pretty. Don't know if that is even a consideration. Beautiful quilt.
