Re: Question about the Disappearing 9 patch???
ozziepuppy I love your quilt. Fresh and pretty and still with a traditional look. I'd give10 scrappys for one like yours. Well done.
Re: Question about the Disappearing 9 patch???
I made this sashed D9P from a set of five fat quaters (they came all together at JoAnn's) that I then cut into squares, and added one white square for the middle of the 9-patch. I just alternated the colors in each block. Once I had laid out the blocks, I put the pieces into zippy bags and labeled each one: A-1, A-2, A-3, etc. Hope you can see what I mean: http://forum.missouriquiltco.com/mem...2-800x600.html
Love the D9P, because there are so many ways to arrange the blocks!
Re: Question about the Disappearing 9 patch???
Maybe I am not understanding the question but I have made DP9 using only 3 fabrics.

I did the D9P with only three fabrics. I already posted these photos under a different thread (so sorry for the repeat to those who have already seen these) but will re-post them here so you can see another example of what the D9P looks like with fewer fabrics. This is before the binding was put on. This quilt was made from yardage, not from layer cakes.
I like this with only 3 colors!

You can make your charms any size you want. People usually use 5" squares because that's the size in a charm pack.
1/4 yard is only 9" wide. 1/3 yard is 12" wide. You can get 12 five inch charms from a fat quarter, but only eight from 1/4 yard.
Look at these quilts for ideas:

Thanks for that site..I tend to get confused, even with a design wall !

Ooh! Thanks - I've even sourced the hummingbird fabric. Of course, it's in the USA but that's OK;)

It is a beautiful quilt. I have been looking for three fabric quilts for the gk's and thought it was going to be the Warm Wishes. Then I wandered around the D9P group and I went that's it!
