I was curious about this block and found it very clever! I think I'd like measurements though before I tackled the border as shown in the video.Disappearing Pinwheel-img_9837.jpg

I will NOT do this tutorial. I may not be any expert, but this one isn't worth my effort or aggravation. After making several practice blocks, none of them looked good enough to make a quilt. For me, everything was fine until the second time to cut the blocks. No matter what I did, it wouldn't turn out right. It was really close, but just not right for me and I decided not to waste my fabric on a quilt that would call my attention to the flaws.

I am currently working on a quilt using these blocks, have had no problems but I do square my large pinwheel block down to 12" so it is easier to figure the sub-cuts. I plan on setting them on point and doing a 2" border and a 5" border-not the pinwheel border. But as most of my projects go, these plans may change.

Yes I have had trouble. Measured and cut very carefully, but........ So rather than mess the whole quilt up. I started over and took apart the pinwheels and made a Chevron quilt. Coming out lovely. I guess I'll have to practice, practice. I just don't know what I did wrong, obviously in the measuring, but I'm still stumped.

I made 2 sample blocks from the Disappearing Pinwheel tuts. I posted them before, but I'll post them again. In my opinion, these blocks are not for beginners. Once the block is cut into 9 pcs., all sections of the block are on the bias, so one must be very careful not to stretch the fabric. I hope to make a baby quilt eventually, but it's not high on my priority list now.Disappearing Pinwheel-unfinished-quilt-projects-jan.-2014-002.jpgDisappearing Pinwheel-unfinished-quilt-projects-jan.-2014-015.jpg JCY
