    2.5 is the normal stitch length for piecing & regular sewing. Walking foot stitch length should be longer. It depends on which quilting stitch you use, but I usually use 3. Try out several stitch lengths on a small sample sandwich. JCY

    I have found 3 is a good setting. My machine is set at default 2.5 but I have noticed that is so small sometimes it is to tight because of that. And to rip out...forget it..I don't want to loose any more of my hair! So I set it to 3 and the stitches are still small enough to keep things together properly, but long enough that to rip out is not as much a problem. for FMQ I use 3 also as I know that I am not good enough yet to make them perfect everytime, and I know I pull a bit to much to make the stitches longer anyway so setting the stitch longer wouldnt help there.

    I use 4 - 4.5. I like the way it looks.
