    Default Basting Spray Questions

Before the holidays I had three quilts that were ready for quilting and binding. Each one was spray basted and to be finished before the holidays. Never happened! They were folded lenghtwise and placed on hangers out of the way. Today I am ready to start finishing them. There are a few wrinkles from the folds. Since these are spray basted, how would you go about removing the wrinkles? Can you iron with the spray basting there? What do I do?

I haven't tried it myself, but from what I hear, ironing is OK and has the added benefit of setting the adhesive even better.

I use 505 spray basting and often iron the front and back after the fact to smooth things out. It's worked great and I've never had any issues with it.

Ironing would be fine. Just make sure that nothing has shifted before you do.

I have a king-size quilt (currently in three pieces) that was spray basted . . . well over 5 years ago . . . and I'll just press some of those fold marks out and quilt away.

Talk about a UFO . . . the top was made before I knew what the term quilting meant.

    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.

Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I have also been able to peel back the backing and reposition. It stuck just fine after. Glad the ironing fixed it for you.

It's perfectly fine to press your quilt sandwich after using spray adhesive. Most professionals do it all the time.
