Antique quilt-what to do?
Just came home from my friend Jennifer's house. She asked me to come and look at this quilt. Her hope was to have me make something out of it-possibly Christmas stockings. I was taken aback at how pretty it was and would have had a hard time cutting it. Jennifer's mother did not make this quilt- she thinks maybe her grandmother did or would have known who did. She keeps it in an archive box and wants to use it in some way. Anyway, the fabric is too fragile and deteriorated to work with-holes in almost every square- a shame because it it really beautiful. All hand quilted. Does anyone recognize the pattern? I would like to recreate it for my friend. Does anyone have suggestions for what can be done with a quilt in this condition?
