I have a question...how big are your blocks now? Is it a pattern that you can trim them all to one size before sashing? I would think that would be the easiest way, but without seeing your blocks, I can't say for sure.

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. I've done as tfrankum suggested, figuring out what size sashing I'd like and then caluclating by half, add the 1/4", etc.
I probably should add that I'm a wee bit afraid of sashing. Surrounding my blocks with black fabric and cutting them all to the same size just seems SEW much easier than sashing.
Cil, I'd cut them all down but I'd lose some points here and there. They were from a Block of the Month club, so each block is different.
I'm committed now. The black fabric has been washed, cut, joined into a monster-long strip, and the sides all cut to fit. Monday, I sew! (Wish I could start tomorrow, but I have commitments for the next three days.)

Are we noticing a pattern here?
