    Default scrappy binding

Just finished a Quilt of Valor quilt, and I don't have enough of any 1 fabric for binding so I thought I would make a "scrappy" binding. Those of you who have done this, do you keep the lengths of each fabric the same (read somewhere that 10 in. is standard) or do you vary the lengths?

I have varied the lengths. I've also used the same fabric on 3 sides and had the scrappy binding just going down 1 side of the quilt. I don't think I would cut my pieces 10" long, that is an awful lot of seams in a binding.
