Would the bolt say Kona Craft cotton? The ones I saw in Hobby Lobby just said Kona cotton. If you don't have knowledge of how they should feel then it makes it difficult to know.

We don't have a LQS close, the nearest one is 30 miles, and just to need something in a hurry, Hobby Lobby is where I have to go.
My LQS is small. There isn't a lot of material. At least not the kind I am interested in. Mostly just floral stuff. I don't mind floral but I like vivid color, not so much muted. Since I am new to this and have spent enough, I have to cut back in other places. When I get better, I will buy more quality fabrics. I just wasn't sure if there was a difference.

The ones from Hobby Lobby that I've used in the past say Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton, like in this picture:

That helps a lot. Thank you! Doesn't look like the ones I saw. No colorful KONA wording. It just said Kona cotton.

I love the site your link goes to. Then I went to the site where she bought the fabric.... Hancock. Such beautiful material! Looked up Robert Kaufman and found the white kona cotton for $6.00 a yard! That is cheaper than Hobby Lobby! I'm never getting off this computer tonight.

hmmm I am worried now. I purchased some of the Country Classic in white ( only I purchase the Legacy for the other 2 dark colors ( awhile ago)
Should I just bite the bullet and purchase the white "over" again, but this time in the legacy ?????????
I have all the squares cut out, and some of them pinned together, to make the bags that Jenny made with the Charm Packs.
Joann's carries Country Classics, Legacy Studio and Kona solids. I wrote this above, but.. quickly..I have tested three times these three and the CC is the thinnest and the LS and Kona I can't tell a difference. But that is not to say the CC is not good. I was using it before I learned of the other two. Just starch it heavy so the threads hold their shape during all the working times (so it doesn't stretch any) and then once finished they'd be okay. If budget is the problem..CC works fine but since I only shop with coupons..Joan's has the 40/50% off coupons so I buy the Legacy since for a buck more from the CC it is better I think and the Kona is not $2-$3 a yard better! I get 2 yards for the price of one. I do see tho that Kona has a few better color options than LS so sometimes I get the Kona for color reason..but still half off.

I will definitely look next trip to Hobby Lobby. The LQS are so expensive...I don't mind paying for nice fabric, but you use so much of the basics...you have to save somewhere! Soul60s I love the color too, I have resisted quilting for years because my mother quilted and her color choices were so dark. Her style was more primitive, and that's not mine. It is not just your mother's quilting anymore! The fabrics are so beautiful now, I love the turquoises, oranges, reds! I love the old style quilt patterns done in more modern fabrics. I am having so much fun quilting.

You are so right! I see quilts now that look 3D! It's really amazing how things have changed. More men are quilting, vibrant lively colors, and some quilts are works of art. I'm inspired!

I have a question (one among many) that I haven't found an answer to yet. When it comes to 100% Kona cotton, are they pretty much all the same? Would Robert Kaufman's Kona cotton be the same as say, Hobby Lobby's or Joann's Kona cotton?

Sorry for such a simple question but I haven't been able to find the answer through google either.

    Thanks,
    Joanne

I have found that the real Kaufman Kona has the name and copyright on the bolt end. Isn't there at Joann's (ours anyway) but have seen it at Hobby Lobby. I look for the little symbol.
