I have played with thread for a year now with regard to the lint in the needle area and bobbin. I have found that COnnecting Threads 100% cotton is just about the best..and that most of the fluff I get comes from the fabric or batting. I found if I use a thinner batting I get less lint. I found that no matter what, 100% cotton fabric will leave some lint. So it isn't the thread that is the biggest culprit! So I stocked up on CT threads on Cyber Monday last year and got 15 spools (had some already) and got common colors. I also found that at Joann's Coats and Clark 100% cotton is great to...as well as the Dual Duty cotton covered polyester..but those are a bit more expensive, but great to have a local place to buy. I ahve been making pillows for my living room this past 2 weeks and using a thin batting, 100% cotton fabric and CT threads (mostly) and some C&C... and the lint in the bobbin is very minor and I just clean every other day or so. So I can highly recommend the CT threads. And the price..you can't beat it! I bought just the regular spools, not the cones as it seems my machine likes the spools better than a cone..why I don't know, maybe it is cause the spool is closer to the needle are area and the cone has to be set farther off hte machine and that length is annoying the machine... that also could be why less lint...I was always using the cone holder even for a spool as I kept the feet and needles I was using in the area the spool should go. But since I started using the spool in its place...just seems like a contribution to less lint!
