I have loads of curtain material, mainly 2/3 yards lengths and I was wondering if anyone had ever made a quilt Using this fabric and if so what advice would you have. Also I have a lot of curtain lining which I hope might be useful in a quilt.

ABSOLUTELY... now I know that many here will say NO, but I'm here to tell you I've made many.. I worked in Home Dec for a while and was given all the out dated sample books... I've made some wonderful totes and zipper bags using this fabric and quilts as well, I think it best to have a machine that sews well thru heavier fabrics, and perhaps use a larger stitch length... Lining can be used as backing or in the body of the quilt... if it's cotton is washes well,,, I would pre shrink it... about the only reason this stuff says "dry clean only" is to keep the "waterproof or stain" protection that most come with.. it's actually quite nice after it's washed.. have fun!!
Here are some "drapery" fabric items!

Barb, you are a master at repurposing! Love your projects!
You certainly could but just be aware that most if not all home dec fabric has a teflon coating to make it fade proof. This will wash out and so might some of the color since it is not really designed to be washed.
The lining that is 100% cotton should make good backing, here again I would wash it first. I have made my design wall from drapery interlining and it is doing well. I plan on using some for the batting in a quilt but will wash it first so any shrinking will be under control.
I wish I had saved my fabric books but for some reason the distributor wanted them back.
GrammaBabs - I love the blue one with the Dutch children on it.
I've got some curtain fabric I want to quilt, so thanks for the tips.
Thanks, For the ideas and the pictures
As long as it is not rubber backed you can make quilts out of it. I have used it when the pattern was just what I needed. Curtain lining can be used as backing. Just treat it as any quilt fabric.

Barb, ditto on what Jean said. I bow before you oh great re-purpose queen.
