This is my picture of the blocks I have made to go with the embroidered blocks I want to put together. Unfortunately my block is a half inch larger than the embroidered block. So I have to do the math and figure out how I can shorten the block size. Sandy was kind enough to give me a link to an explanation on how to do that so I will give it a shot or I just may go with the churn dash block. I'm just so ticked at the whole thing right now, I think I will look at it again tomorrow.
Stunning!! I hope you can get this worked out in the morning with fresh eyes, this is beautiful.
Good luck

What if you cut down and then sash the embroidery blocks? From the pic (which is stunning btw), it looks like you would have room to trim those blocks and then do a narrow sashing. Or do a different setting, so that they are offset and don't have to be the same size? It might not be the look you were going for, but I like the blocks that you have already done as well as the embroidered ones!
Sorry I got confused earlier, I understand now :) I think Lisa's idea is good! Love the embroidery, urban threads?
Thought of that too but the embroidery blocks are 10 inch square and if I want to sash around both blocks, it still wouldn't fit because the star block is 10 1/2 inches square and I really can't trim them back or I will loose the points. I really am leaning toward the Friendship Star or the Churn Dash. I think either one will look great. Even though I am in love with the other I can always make another quilt from those blocks.
See!!! I knew this forum was marvelous!!!! I got all kinds of info and help to get me on my way again......You guys are the bestest ever!!!!!
Hugs to you all!!
You could make a nine patch using 2.5" squares then border with 2.5" strips then trim to 9.5
