35 years ago I made one from my newborn daughter. I appliqued Sun Bonnet Sue and her brother onto white squares, then sewed the squares into a crib size quilt. That was before I knew anything about quilting and just did it by my own creation! Then I used a Mickey Mouse print as the back and a white ruffle around it. I didn't know about sashing so I just sewed all the squares together. I think they were about 6x6 inch squares..maybe 8x8 at the largest. I cut out the pieces and appliqued them onto the white with interfacing behind it.
