    Default Half Hexagon Ruler Question

I have purchased the 5 inch half hexagon ruler and am trying to make a quilt with it, but have run into a small problem. My hexagon ruler is bigger then my charm square! Is this normal? Will it screw up how my quilt comes out? At first I thought it was my charm square, since they sometimes don't come out exactly 5 inches, but when I measured both it was the ruler! It is an 1/8 of an inch too big. Anyone else run into the same problem? Thank you so much!!

I just got one in, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet.....I will have to check mine as well.

I believe that the 5" half hexie ruler is made to be used with a jelly roll and not a charm pack.

I just checked mine and the wide edge is about 1/8" larger than a charm. Hmmm!

I think as long as everything is cut the same, it won't make a difference. I have seen the half hexi used with both the charms and jelly rolls. I've only used it with 2.5" strips, but I believe I've seen Jenny show how to use it with a charm in one of the tutorials.

I agree about it being a bit large but it did not seem to matter on the project I did. I think if you center it on the charm there will be just a matter of a couple of threads that would disappear in the seam allowance anyway.

I just cut up a charm pack last night using the half hexi, and noticed the same problem. I'm hoping that with the sewing, it'll be ok. I'm making a modern hexagon baby quilt.

I wonder if there was a change sometime. I used my ruler with strips with no problem and I just measured it and was exactly 2-1/2". I laid it on one of my lovely charm squares and it looks okay, just close.
