Not Sure Where To Start
My mother and I took a laptop quilting course back in the early 90"s. We each finished our quilts and that was the only quilt I made. My Mother passed away in 1994. Since I was the only daughter, I was given her sewing notions and her materials. Last month my husband was going through a large tote box and found a stack of materials cut into 5" squares and triangles. The first 22 squares had a stack of 4 triangles each laid on each square. The last 50 squares had one square with 8 triangles laid on top, the next square had no triangles, next square had 8 triangles laid on top, next square had no triangles, so on and so forth. I am so afraid to start anything because I don't know what kind of pattern she was trying to do or if it was a pattern at all. I would love to finish this quilt but since I am a beginning quilter I am hesitating. I need some help. Could anybody tell me what I need to do to finish this quilt? Thank you in advance for any help. justbngee

Re: Not Sure Where To Start
I ran into a similar situation, my husband's grandmother passed and I was given pieces to a quilt she was working on as well as the pieces she cut out, but nothing else. It was the first quilt I finished. I made it for my father-in-law. I just jumped it with both feet and it turned out fine, however, what I was given wasn't as complex as yours. If I received what you did, I would either try and set up the blocks and see if I notice some sort of pattern. If you post a few pics, some of the more knowledgable quilters might now the blocks and what to do with them. If you are still nervous, I would make a couple quilts and then try the one you were given.
