Re: What to do with freezer paper?
You can also use freezer paper to make your own quilt labels using an ink-jet printer. I saw a video that used it to temporarily adhere label fabric to printer paper, but it didn't work well for me - too many layers trying to go through the printer.
I experimented and found that this worked: Cut a piece of FP to about 9 x 12, cut a piece of washed, dried and pressed muslin or a similar fabric to the same size. With a dry iron, press them together with the shiny side of the paper to the muslin. Trim to the size of a regular sheet of printer paper - 8 1/2 x 11. On your computer, create a Word document with the words, etc you want on the label. You will be able to get several on one sheet. Use the 'bold' feature so the writing is easier to read and will use more ink. Practice the printing on paper first to make sure you like it and it shows well. When you're ready, just print on the muslin/FP sheet. Peel off the paper. Press both sides of the fabric several times with a hot dry iron to set the ink. Trim to desired label size. I hand-washed mine with hot water, soap and really scrubbed it between my hands - no ink came off or smudged. I tried it first on a few different fabrics and found that a smooth fabric worked best. I tried it on a white-on-white first and the printing was distorted and smudgy due to the raised design on the fabric. Good way to use small pieces of muslin!
