Default Brentwood Bag by Pink Sand Beach Designs

Has anyone made the Brentwood Bag by Pink Sand Beach Designs? If so, I have a question I hope you can help me with.

On the pattern piece/layout page, it says to cut the #4 piece from both the cotton and the fusible fleece. However, on step 1 of the instructions it says to only cut fleece from #1, 3, 5, 8, 9, and 7 pieces. So I'm confused if I need fleece for this piece or not.

If I had more experience making bags like this, it might be a no-brainer, but this is my first project of this type.

I love their bags, but haven't made this one yet. Perhaps you can email them and ask for clarification.

What is the #4 piece for? I can't tell from the picture.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

I did email, but I figured with it being the weekend and Christmas next week that they might not get around to answering it for awhile. Glad to know you love their bags.

It is for the pocket edging.

I don't know if this will help but I looked through my few Pink San Beach patterns and found the following:

If the pocket piece is slipped between the accent piece there is no fusible. If the accent piece attaches to a zipper it has fusible fleece applied.

Thanks! This piece isn't attached to a zipper so i might try it without the fusible and hope for the best!

I just have to say that Pink Sands Beach Designs has wonderful customer service. I received an email back today answering my question (no fleece in case you were wondering!) and they even attached a pdf file of the instructions in color which will help a lot. I will definitely buy more of their patterns just because I know they stand behind their product!

That's fantastic news. I'm happy to hear they got back to you so quickly, especially during the holidays. I'm sort of newish to sewing and my very first purse was the Barbados bag by them. It was easier than I thought to make.

The other designer I like is Lazy Girl Designs. The Candice is a wonderful bag I've made twice.

I've been checking out the Lazy Girl bags, too! I might have to try one of them next assuming this one doesn't turn out to be a complete disaster.

It won't be! I can't wait to see a picture when you are done.

If you do a lazy girl design, the only bag I've come across so far that I detested making was the Summer Tote. I tried it twice.

I picked up a new pattern today from V & Co. You have to do these little pin tucks. I'm terrified.
