What to do with 5 yds of 5 colors?
Ok gang - went to shop today with a fistful of coupons + a sale! Came home with a cool print, got 6 yds. - thinking for the backing! For the top I got 5 different pieces of 1 yard each. They all read like a solid (but are truly a print), and all of those colors are in the backing of 6 yds.
WHAT TO DO!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Should be able to come up w/a decent size, and can always add some muslin or whites that I always have. I want kinda easy but maybe a bit modern. Hit me with your best shot! So keep in mind I have a total of 5 yards to make this top + some possible white. And 6 yrds for a back.

I bought 5 one yard cuts to make a Take 5 quilt....when I get time. You can google Take 5 quilt and there are several patterns for it.

If you want modern I would take a swing over to the Moda Bake shop. I get lost when I go there. lol
Re: What to do with 5 yds of 5 colors?
How about pinwheels? The prints are the pinwheels and the solids the background parts.
Re: What to do with 5 yds of 5 colors?
this one is too much background fabric - but thanks for thinking modern for me!

I'd aim for a stacked coin quilt . . . (just because I want to do one . . . )

How about mixin' it up with either a Double Slice Layer Cake or a Disappearing 9 Patch? JCY
Re: What to do with 5 yds of 5 colors?
The "Trip around the world quilt" takes 1 yard of each fabric. For a Full size you use 7 for a king you use 9 so I think you could make a twin with 5.
It's a tube quilt, really easy, I think I posted pics of how to in my albums But, Eleanor Burns did it as a Quilt in a day... it's really that easy.

Re: What to do with 5 yds of 5 colors?
Just completed a Yellow Brick Road quilt top using black, grey, cream and white. Modern, made from fat quarters - you could cut your yardage into fat quarters :icon_bigsmile: and have all kinds of fun. I posted a picture.
Re: What to do with 5 yds of 5 colors?
What about cutting into strips and making a jelly roll or where you put three strips together sew and cut as long as it is wide. Then you alternate the blocks to make your quilt. Jenny did a tutorial on this.
Re: What to do with 5 yds of 5 colors?
This is the quilt I'd do....
I posted this album of the steps, but they posted backwards... It's really easy to do.

That one is a king after borders I made it for my best friend. I cut the fabric in 4 3/4 strips and sewed them together then cut them again into rows ... The squares come out 4.5 when it's done,
