Re: thread to use for quilt?
The LAQ I use said that as a rule of thumb she matches thread to the 'backing' of the quilt... I think if you used a navy blue to match the back it would look fantastic with the fabric combo you have on the front. (Beautifully done by the way) :)
Re: thread to use for quilt?
Just beautiful and I have not done the 3 dudes pattern but have heard it is a bear to match up your seams. I vote navy blue thread!
Re: thread to use for quilt?
Thanks everyone. Great people here.

I think I would use a lighter color for quilting, like maybe a baby blue--something to match one of the blues on the front, but not navy. You want to showcase your fabrics & not have the thread color be prominent. JCY
Re: thread to use for quilt?
I think I would use a tan or the baby blue on front and than match the bobbin with the backing. I agree you dont want to over power the beautiful work on the front. I am sure it will look fantastic whatever you choose to do. Cant wait to see

That is an interesting concept. I'm not sure I would agree with that. For the most part, I use a thread lighter than the fabrics I used in the quilt top. If I had a red & white quilt top with a red backing I wouldn't choose to use a red thread for the quilting. JMHO.
Re: thread to use for quilt?
Thanks everyone, I am still dithering. I have tried the monofilament on top and navy in the bobbin. But the monofilament keeps breaking. I think I will give up on that idea. I tried medium gray on top & navy in the bottom, didn't care for that. I will try the light tan on top &navy in bobbin. Matching all the seams was a pain, I think I did pretty well. Used the pin tip I saw somewhere. Thanks again. Will try to post the result.
