Question on Misty Fuse
I'm joining two panels together with a large repeat (12") so I need to have the pattern match. I have one side pressed and matched up to the other side, and pinned, the same as one would do to match repeats in drapery panels.
I want to fuse a narrow strip of Misty Fuse to hold the matched design while I stitch. Just wondering if this is feasible, since I haven't tried this stuff yet. I know that I can use Steam a Seam or Heat n Bond, but that might be stiff after it's fused and this is the backing for a quilt. Otherwise, I may resort to a glue stick.
Would appreciate your opinion if you've used the product or can suggest a better way to get an exact match.

Re: Question on Misty Fuse
Washable school glue works great for matching. Fold and press the top one, line it up, glue, press. Then you can pin, unfold and sew on the folded line.

Re: Question on Misty Fuse
I like the glue idea too. Once you iron a fuseable web you can't reposition. The glue will give some wiggle room before you iron.

I agree with the above, too. You'd have to be pretty darn accurate if you were going to use MistyFuse. Try the glue first.

Re: Question on Misty Fuse
Sharyn, I see you used the glue, which is what I was going to suggest. Fast and easy!
But I did want to comment on Misty Fuse. I LOVE the stuff, use it all the time, and one of the advantages of it over glue is that you CAN re-position fabric that you've fused with it. Just re-heat to soften a bit and you can move the fabric. With glue, however, once you heat set it, it is ON there until you wash it.

Re: Question on Misty Fuse
Thanks Cathyrn. I haven't use it yet. I picked it up at the quilt expo last month and I'm anxious to try it for some applique. Your floral quilt with the fairies turned out so adorable, it sparked my enthusiasm to go back to some applique work again, which I enjoy. Now I just have to get a nice pair of little scissors!

Thanks Cat. I just ordered some along with a few other things for gifts. Once I get to Amazon, I'm a goner. I love shopping in my slippers and look forward to using my new scissors!

Re: Question on Misty Fuse
So you know, Misty Fuse is wonderful stuff!!! When I made my fabric box, I put that under the flaps on the outside as I had no buttons to match.....those things are not going anywhere!!
pat.
No rain....no rainbows!
