Have you ever done this???
I have a quilt, king size that someone wants me to make and she lives here in Hawaii so I am going to take her to pick out the fabrics she wants. I offered her if she purchases the fabric and batting I would only charge her $260.00 for the making of the quilt. Has anyone ever done that before and is that enough?

I think it would depend on how complicated the design is. Did she pick one out yet?

It definitely depends on how hard the pattern is and how much time you put into it!!! That makes a world of difference!

Pattern is key I think. Most folks on here that I've seen post in the past charge for the amount of time it takes to make the quilt and that would depend on pattern.

I think cost is very subjective and dependent on where you live. Here in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area people regularly get $1000 for a t-shirt quilt where the purchaser has supplied the majority of the fabric in the form of shirts. In other areas someone might be lucky to net a $100 profit off a quilt of this type. If this is a friend or family member I think your number is fine. If this is strictly a paying customer you never want to undervalue your work! If quilting were easy then everyone could just make their own and wouldn't need to pay you to do it. Good luck!

Are you going to do the FMQ or the LAQ on it, too, in addition to piecing it? If so, & depending on pattern difficulty, I think I would charge more. JCY

The chosen pattern is very important for figuring out what your payment for making it should be. Do you have one in mind, has she chosen one yet? Please, we need more information.
