    Default The friendship braid quilt

I came across this a few days ago and really loved it! I'm about half way done cutting the pieces (LOTS of cutting!!!) but I've realized that I have a little problem. On the video she shows how the pieces are places and sewn together but I'm wondering how I can chain piece. Am I missing something? I've even looked at other videos and I can't find any that actually sew the pieces.

I only made one and it was about 6 months ago, but since you are building one long strip of smaller strips, is it possible to chain piece? The way I was making mine, it wouldn't work. If you were using a center setting square, perhaps you could do all of those by chain piecing. I'm sure someone with more experience will have a tip to share.

I don't think there is a way to chain piece other than working on multiple braids at once, but I may not be experienced enough to have the answer. Good luck - it will be a great quilt!

I made one a few years back as well. I don't recall chain stitching because of the way you build your braid. Takes a bit but well worth it.

This is the best video I have seen for sewing the friendship braid. You don't have to use the binding tool.

You could have a pile of small squares to sew together that way you will be making two quilts at once. Bonnie over at Quiltville does this. Quiltville's Quips & Snips!!: Leaders & Enders! The Why's and How's!

This is a splendid idea. I have a quilt that is all squares and all this time I could have been putting it together. I have only been working on it in little spurts

I like using the binding tool, because it eliminates the need to trim the edges.

The half hexie makes a pretty braid, too....

Since this pattern came up how big will it be with just one jelly roll? Someone showed one with out the sashing that was really pretty. I just need small laps or kid friendly sizes right now.
