Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I've ALWAYS been a "work on only one project at a time kind of gal" even when I was doing stamping. That has always worked best for me. However, I find I'm getting frustrated because I have so many projects I want to do and think it might be fun to have 2 projects going at the same time. I hope it works!
How many of you do this?
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I think its good to have a few going, because you can walk away on a project (frustrating) and still change it up a bit by working on something different and come back with fresh eyes. I have 5 projects on the go at the moment...........
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
Oh I love having several going at once...I never lose interest or get bored. Finishing never feels laborious. Right now I have 1 baby with the quilting almost done, a quilt top wait to be sandwiches, 6 blocks for a quilt, a center for another, an idea on the design wall, and fabric in piles for 2 others! Oh I need to get busy!
Have fun with your two at once, pretty soon it'll be more!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I currently have two which I never do. The one just needs the backing trimmed down and the batting cut so I can take it to the long armer so I'm not really considering that a project.
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I usually have 5 going. I get bored and pick up another one. I like having a few projects going, I don't have dead lines so no pressure and I always finish my projects. I have "punished" myself before and would not cut another quilt til one got done lol
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I tend to just do one thing at a time, so I just buy the fabric I need for that project, which is why I'm never going to get that longed for stash some (most) of the ladies here have!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I started out doing one thing at a time, but this past year I had several projects going on and seemed to get more done that way. Right now I have four rag quilts to finish and two quilt tops that just need borders before I can finish them. I also signed up for two BOM classes, so if I get bored with one thing, I can move on to another. Oh I also have to start a baby quilt for a new grandson who is due next month. Guess I better get with the program. Have fun!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I always have at least three or four projects going at the same time. I'm easily bored. I tend to finish them all at the same time and that's thrilling! Good Luck!!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
Like alot of others i ALWAYS have 5 going at one time..sometimes they are just in the planning stages in my head or I'm researching how to do something on the net but i know it will be my next project....I have this many going so that i don't get bored or if something doesn't go right i can think through something while doing something else.
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I have about five in various stages. But then there are mug rugs sitting there and group swaps. lol
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I always have three or four projects going at a time. I see fabric that leaps off of the shelf at the store and of course I have to buy it and the compliments that go with it, and off starts another project! I suppose I could just stay out of the fabric store until I get everything finished........not!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I went from 0- a zillion in just a few months.
A few purses, mug rugs and love it all it gives me choices...enjoy!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I am not a planner, so I rarely buy all the fabric I need to complete a project. So...when it's a hassle to run back to the fabric store, or I have to wait for a postal arrival, I go on to another project. Right now, I have 3 going at once, plus a fourth is on hold until the "client" chooses her backing fabric. Some others just can't function like that. So please, just do whatever works for you!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I don't have enough room to do more than one quilt at a time...but with other stuff around the house oh boy DO I! Home renos yikes! I started dying my oak cabinets in my main bathroom java coloured four weeks ago..then got sick with a kidney infection and everything just went to he** in a hand basket! Then there is the build-in in cherry on the main floor, our staircase needs rebuilding, and don't even get me started on the basement. uhg.
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I came down to my "studio" (makes me sound professional to say that) this morning to work. I found that I couldn't start another project because I'm so close to finishing the current one. I'm going to finish this and then start 2 at the same time :-)
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I am feeling a bit of pressure because I have so many things in the works. That does not include things I have fabric for. I started 6 projects at a retreat and have finished one of them. The others are all in various stages of work. I do have two sandwiched and ready to quilt but took the day off yesterday to make a couple of changing pads for my grand daughter, that is soooo much more important than any of the other things.:D
I took a FMQ class on Tue and want to get some practicing going on but here I am on the computer.....

;)
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I have 8 hanging over the banister to be finished and I am working on a RR at the moment. I really wish I worked more serially than in parallel. The chance would be greater that I actually get something done.
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
Hahaha! I have 2 queen tops, 4 twins & 2 laps that need quilted. Plus 1 PICU quilt, 4 wall hangings or doll size, and 2 mug rugs that need quilted. All are sandwiched and basted and the bindings are ready and pressed on hangers waiting. Then I have fabric cut for a rag quilt, blocks all completed for a 3-d bow tie quilt and blocks all completed for D9P quilt. I also have half the blocks made for a queen log cabin. Oh, almost forgot just did a snow themed JRR with snowflake appliqués - it still needs a batting & backing but the binding is ready. It is more fun to do things in "chunks". I will be getting geared up for a FMQ marathon soon!
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
I try to only have one at a time. However the DGD's b'day quilt would (hand quilting) start to get to me, and I would set it aside for an evening and make something else. Now I have the other DGD b'day quilt to do, but plan on machine quilting that one. I HAVE to get busy on other things, that I have not had the time to do. Good luck with your plans. Whatever works I say.
Re: Wish me luck. Starting more than 1 project!
As my DGD Zoe says, I have eleventeen going at once - not because I need to - but because I am totally
