Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
I love Kaffe Fasset materials and made this quilt for our guest room. To me, it doesn't look quite finished, and the only reason I pulled the quilt over the pillows is because there was enough length to do this. I don't want to have this as a permanent look.
There is material left over (a embarrassing amount), and I'd love some suggestions for what else I can do...cases? pillows? something unusual? Any ideas are most welcome, and I'd appreciate your help.
I'm not a great or terribly experienced sewer/quilter but will give anything a try.
Thanks in advance.Attachment 39357Attachment 39358
I hope I actually attached the pictures!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
I love this quilt! I love those colors. I would make pillow shams with the extra material. and maybe even bolster pillows too. Nice work!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
If you are really not sure what to do with this quilt, you can box it up and send it to me! LOL What a lovely quilt, so pretty and bright, and if you aren't very "experienced" you certainly are on your way. You could do some solid color pillows?? I love just as it is, maybe you have been looking at it too long. It certainly is lovely.:icon_bigsmile:

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
WOW. LOVE it!
Great job, happygram!
If I had extra fabric after this BEAUTY, I'd maybe consider an eclectic wall-hanging. It's really not needed, though. This quilt carries the room.
Colors of the Caribbean are my favs, this time of the year.

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
Beautiful quilt. You could make window coverings, or small table runners for the night stands or you could also make a bed runner or cover your lamp shades along with the pillows, and wall hangings.

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
My first thought was a wall hanging. Your quilt is stunning!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
That is just lovely. I think if you have all those colors in left over fabric I would make tons of different sized throw pillows to toss on the bed.

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
ohhh so many good suggestions -- didn't think about tying it in with a lamp shade cover in one of the brighter colors, Definately a Wall Hanging ***see the group Quilt Escape*** hehehe I love how you quilted it too, didn't make too many lines to distract from that gorgeous fabric! Beautiful job

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
You could do Euro Shams, they are the big square pillow shams. Since this block is square, you could add borders until it's about 25x25 and buy the Euro pillow insert (JoAnn's) and have a decorator look! And a bolster pillow. The long skinny pillow that sits on the bed infront of the shams. It's just like making a pillow. Using a rectangle, sew around four sides leaving an opening to turn and stuff. Once stuffed, stitch closed. Then, take your two points on the end, pull down until they touch each other, tack add a decorator button. SEW easy! Do the same on the other end with points, tacking and adding a button.
Waaalaaa! You have a bedding ensemble! Great colors btw.
PS: You could also make a Euro sham with four of your blocks too!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
Wow........gorgeous quilt.....love the bright colors and prints! The Roman glass print from K Fasset is my favorite. I'm thinking some interesting throw pillows and table runners for bedside tables and/or a wall hanging of favorite prints above the bed. Great job!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
I have 8-9 pillows on my bed at all times, 3 regular size ones, two king size ones, one body pillow, and at least 2 throw pillows. With scraps, I love to make the V and Co. Shutter/pleated pillow that she did a tutorial on with Jenny. I have samples of my beds with pillows in my albums, as well as samples of the pleated pillows.
Your Kaffe Fasset quilt is " knok your socks off" gorgeous! Beautiful!

Stunning quilt....definitely some pillows tossed on the bed!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
Throw pillows! That's what I'd make. You can also make pillowcases for your sleeping pillows. Each pillowcase takes a yard of fabric. They are easy to make. Jenny has a video.

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
No wonder you are 'Happygram'! That has got to be one of the happiest quilts I have seen. So cheerful! It looks nice over the pillows. Maybe the extra could be made for a CoC or ICU quilt. Check out the Group section for more information. Can't help but feel better looking at those pretty colors.

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
Good Morning,
Thanks so much for all your lovely comments and most welcome advice and suggestions. I love the idea of a wall hanging and thought I'd like to try something with that new quick curve ruler that was mentioned in the forum. It would make a really cool modern looking wall hanging done in Kaffe Fasset + black...if I can figure out how to use it when it comes. I did order it. Framing some of the beautiful fabric is also a great suggestion; the material is as pretty as a picture. I have enough fabric to make some pillows, and looked at Jenny's video and the Sew for Home site. What a great site that is, and there are some terrific ideas to try. Yes, I quilted it myself. It seemed that straight lines (don't look too carefully; mine aren't really too straight) because I wanted the materials to be the most important. It was a fun project to make, and your most generous help, comments, and advice make me feel great!
When I get the projects finished, I'll show them to you. I have some baby things that come first...just found out we're going to be grandparents again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yippee!!!
Thank you.

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
Congratulations again Grandmother! One more reason to make another quilt :-) That is great news.
I like the idea of making picture frames of the pretty fabric Renate -- Good thinking, the fabric is so pretty it is ready to frame.

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
Love all the colors in the quilt. Makes the room cheerful and inviting. Love it!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
To me the quilt looks perfect and finished. It is the rest of the room that needs a pop (or 2) of those colors. How about a framed colorful picture over the bed?

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
I wouldn't do another thing to your quilt, it's amazing. I love the bright cheerful colours. You could perhaps make some matching cushions with the spare fabric for a chair.
-
Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
That is beautiful, I love Kaffe Fassett too! How about you make a wall hanging to go over the bed with the same fabrics? A rectangular one, lying down sorta fing?

These are all my favorite colors! Absolutely stunning!

Re: Now what? Quilt is done, but I'm not finished.
I love how it look on its own. But since you feel it is not finished, pillows of different sizes always look great.
The suggestions of lamp shade covered is very fun too.
