My daughter brought a package of it home for a quilt I was making her. I just used what I had, so I still have the Walmart batting. It feels fine. I haven't completely unrolled it though. It doesn't feel any different than Hobbs to me.
I use Wal mart batting 80/20 all the time. It holds up well with washing after you've quilted it in. I like alot of quilting with little spaces left... so I can't complain about how it doesn't "bunch or pill".
Judt bought some Hobbs (Connecting threads.com) and haven't used it as yet. The price is good, even with shipping.
I've only used the poly batting from Walmat and I like it. I do buy the Warm and Natural cotton from Joann's when they have it 1/2 off or coupon time, that helps the budget.
thanks for the heads up on the Hobbs

If it is anything like the 80/20 from Hancock, I use it all the time, especially for charity quilts. I can get a twin size roll for $5-6, as opposed to twice that much for Hobbs. I do like Hobbs, it feels wonderful. I think the Warm products make a stiffer quilt, don't like that feel as well.
I use Walmart batting all the time. I can't afford any high priced stuff. I have never had a problem with the batting or any fabric I have ever bought there.
I have used Walmart batting in the past and it was fine. You have to quilt within 4 inches - that was the part I didnt like. I usually stitch in the ditch, so many times then I had to mark other lines.
Now I use Warm and Natural (10 inches to quilt). When I am close to being out I watch at Joannes for a batting sale - they seem to be every month or so. Then I also watch for a free shipping coupon. That is when I will stock up and get a bunch and save money in the long run.
I use the 80/20 from WM all the time. I actually like it better than the W&W or W&N. It is just a tad thicker and quilts up nicely. I usually buy the queen or king and can get 3 or 4 hospital quilts out of the larger size. I say go for it, and you will like it.
Here is a thought....I called the company when I got a batting with a hole in it...advised that I was able to repair the hole and still use the batting but felt they should know about it...they sent me two high end battings for my trouble...so I would email the company or something and see if they can make it up to you! I was very pleased with the customer service I received on my complaint....it is worth a try...you paid good money for that batting!
Overstocks.com usually has the W & W batting for much cheaper than the fabric stores!
