    Default A braid question

    Hi

I decided to be brave and tried a braid for the first time, like the one Jenny made a tutorial on.

I think it went pretty well. Considering i do not have the binding tool that Jenny used.
And i made a much smaller version.

    There is just one thing.

How do you start the second half of the block?

Do you cut the tips along the middle square ?

    Any tips or pointers ?

    Any advice is much appreciated

Here's the pattern I use: http://quiltbug.com/free/table-topper.htm I guess you could just keep adding strips to make it bigger than this tablerunner. Yours is very pretty! I like it very much with more than the three fabrics this pattern calls for. This one is also similar to yours: http://buzzingandbumbling.blogspot.com/ I don't know if I'm being any help at all but I am trying! Good luck with yours!

The one I made called for a larger triangle to fill the bottom. I ran the braid the whole length of the quilt (just keep adding the strips) then two smaller triangle to square off the top.

Annika, I did one that I started a while back but haven't finished (it's in my works in progress album) don't remember how I did it so I'm not too much help in answering your question but I do remember at the time I wished I made my braids longer than I needed them because I lost alot when I cut them even. I like the idea of making triangles that was suggested to fill the spaces and give it an even edge. Seems you wouldn't lose as much that way. Yours is turning out quite nice!

I start with the center braid and as I add a fabric to the top I also add one to the bottom. This way both ends of the braid run are finished simultaneously.
