Mug rug? A little table runner?
The recipient will probably put it on her desk at work. IDK if she drinks coffee or not?
ETA: She doesn't have a window in her office. So maybe a little wall hanging?

Mug rug or small wall hanging would be my vote. I'm in the mug rug swap even though I don't drink coffee or hot tea. I figure it'll work just as fine for a cold drink and snack. :)
Mug rug. I drink tea more than coffee and I love a good mug rug. If you have a dollar store you could buy one that coordinates with the rug.
I lie the idea of a mug rug or small wall hanging. I think either would be great.
Maybe a fabric box to put her pens/pencils in? A fabric frame for picture of her children (or movie star hunk!!! hehe) A mug rug would be good if she drinks coffee or tea or even something cold to absorb the wet from the iced glass.
Those are both good things. An easy tote bag would be good too. She can use it to cart stuff from home, or she could use it for shopping, the library, the gym if she goes to one. All kinds of things. Does she sew? Make her a sewing kit to carry in her purse. Give her a quilting book. What colors are in her kitchen? Make a table runner with a charm pack. Jenny just did a tutorial on one. They are easy and quick. Does she read? Make a fabric book marker. I got one from one of my friends, I love it! And it is always in use. And it's special to me because my friend Dawn made it for me. Probably took her 10 minutes, but I love it because she made it for me. You should see Dawn crochet! She is so fast, it makes your head spin. Every year she makes at least 250 hats for school kids who don't have any. Plus she works full time. And she still found time to make me a book mark. She is always doing something for someone. For Christmas one year she made the 12 girls she works with totes, did 250 hats, and made several gifts for family and friends. She is a whirlwind. I don't know how she does it. Anyway, I digress, there are all kinds of things that are quick. Good luck, Hugs, Jan L.
love mug rugs and totes. Just got my 1st wall hanging and love it to!
Thanks Ladies. Such wonderful ideas!
Jan, I'm not sure about her hobbies, it's a thank you gift for someone my husband knows. She works as a hiring manager.
Just a thought, if you make a mug rug, even if she doesn't drink tea or coffee she could use it as a mouse pad :)
Jan, your friend Dawn sounds like an angel!
A wall hanging would be really nice.
I love the idea of the mug rum with matching mug or cup. Add a little bit of chocolate and it is just a perfect gift!!!
It depends on how big a thank you. If it's a small one for a favour, then a a mug rug. If she did something really awesome that helped you a lot, then a wall hanging. Or whatever you feel like giving I suppose. I also really like the idea of a tote but it's very personal IMO. Great ideas here!
I would say the mug rug - I'm sure she drinks something (water, coffee, soda, tea). She may or may not be allowed to hang things on the walls but she can always use a mug rug on her desk.
this is a great tutorial for a desk organizer

this is an adorable fabric basket http://ayumills.blogspot.com/2008/05...ic-basket.html and so easy to make. you could make some criss cross coasters http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts...ross_coas.html and tuck em in with a cute mug to match.
I think the mug rug would be perfect and she doesn't have to be a coffee or tea drinker to appreciate it. It's a mini piece of art.
I think a mug rug would be great, too, and I love the idea of using it as a mouse pad! You might roll the mug rug up and put it in an actual mug, with a packet of instant hot cocoa or specialty coffee and a treat such as a cellophane-wrapped biscotti. I need to stop before I get hungry...
I agree that the mug rug with a cute cheap mug would be a nice little gift. I know I'd be happy to get it! :) Have fun
I'd say a mug rug or desk organizer. i'm always a little skeptical about giving a wall hanging to someone unless I'm 100% sure it's one that will go with their other decor. After 35 years as a school administrator I've been given lots of gifts, including wall hangings and pictures. Although many of them were beautiful and contained many hours of work, they did not fit with the other decor and were just not a style I liked, but I felt obligated to hang them for a while. However, I have some quilting friends who love any kind of quilted wall hanging and would not hesitate to make one for any of them.
