Love it! It's wonderful!!!
I think the pink adds to it a lot, and I think you did it just right. A bit of quilting on the border, and no one will know it was added on.
I added the top piece of the border to the top of the quilt and the backing to the back. (sewed on at the same time, kind of like a joining piece for 2 quilt as you go pieces if that makes sense) The front seam looks like a regular border, but the back does have a seam where its added.
Looks great cant wait to see it finished!
Okay, thank you ladies- I know now it is just me being super critical of myself. I will get it finished and post some pictures.
Thanks again!! This is exactly why I joined a forum, so I can get feedback from someone who isn't me lol.
Looks fine to me. You can't tell that the border was added as an "afterthought."
You did a good job! The border sets the chevron off perfectly! Hugs, Jan L.
Can we see finished pics, please? I am unsure just how you added the top border, but I do love the look of the border on the quilt top!
The backing is gray. I cut 2 backing pieces 7"x 33" (the length on the quilt) and 2 pink pieces 6"x33". I then took a pink piece and turned it right side to the top of the quilt and a backing piece right side to the back of the quilt and sewed both pieces to the edge, lengthwise. I did the same thing on the opposite side. I then measured my width of my quilt and cut my backing 7"x 41 1/2" and my pink 6"x 41 1/2" (the width of the quilt with the side borders added) and sewed the bottom piece of the border the same way. The top border piece is cut and will be embroidered/appliquéd and will be added the same way.
Once I sewed my pieces on, I pressed my backing out flat and added my batting in, using a basting spray, and then pressed my pink border on top of that and pinned and trimmed the batting flush with the pink border piece, leaving a 1 inch piece of backing showing. This will be folded over to the front to create my binding.
Clear as mud????
