Lorie it reminds me of the Virginia Reel or Snail's Trail made from the Square in a Square blocks. My guess is this is similar but with a "flattened" triangle.
Isn't it amazing the things we find when poking around on the web?

I'll have to look those up! That's just the sort of quilt my daughter would like to make. I'm just so amazed that there so many quilts in general. It would take a couple of life times to make all these!

I guess I'm only medium-lazy, because I forewent the compass and pencil, and drafted it inside my computerized quilt-making program. (Probably more accurate than I could have been with a pencil anyway!) Her instructions did work, and the computer added accurate seam allowances for me.
I know the original post was a couple years ago, but if anyone stills needs this I'm happy to share my efforts. The program even lets me change the block size super easily. Let me know. I'm on gmail...

I agree with Joyce. I got a bit offended by that lazy bit. I think it would've been nicer if she had just said for those not confident in working with a compass. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't criticize and just be happy she went to the effort to post all this for free. I think I'd spring for the templates. It would just make the whole process so much easier having proper tools. If you make the quilt let us know what you think of the glue basting seams technique. I'd go with Flynn's templates. His price is doable.
Re: Templates for Winding Ways quilt?
I finally broke down and bought the die for the accuquilt Go. Was an excellent investment. Had everything cut quickly and it went together so much easier. There are notches for matching on the pieces with the die.

thanks for this link! Good prices for templates and I didn't realize he did them.
