I just finished sewing my first quilt top so now I need to order backing fabric. I want to make sure I did my calculations right since this my first real quilt.
My finished top measures 56" x 48". I calculated that I need to order 3 yards of 42" wide backing fabric. Is that correct? My fear is that I won't order enough, but I don't want to order way too much either!
if you run your seam horizontal I think 3 yds should be enough, but better wait for a second opinion as I could be thinking wrong.
Yes, that should do. When you piece it, it will be 54" x 84".

Yeah. There are a few different types of calculators on it. :) I love that site and have it saved in my bookmarks, plus I have it on my phone for in case I need it when I'm on the go. :)
