Julia, there isn't a 1/4 inch slot. What there is is as quarter inch dotted line that you can move to the edge to cut strips that are something like 2 3/4 inch, etc. I just didn't want you to think there were slots for 1/4 inch - just at the 1/2 inch.Quote:

One question I have is that I have this ruler but only the 12" one and when you cut strips how do you keep from getting dips and waves were the folds are?
I definitely recommend the SHAPE CUT PLUS ruler. It's worth it. I also bought the HALF-SQUARE AND QUARTER SQUARE TRIANGLES ruler but I haven't used that very much. It's also good for squaring up blocks.
