    Default Strip piecing question

    Hi

I am wondering about strip piceing. Way do you sew the strips on a pice of fabric or paper ?
Way not sew them thogheter straight away?

Is there a trick to it or ???

Thinking on testing this so i realy want to know before i start.

    Have a great day/evening

    Annika

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

I use an old phone book, cut the pages to the size you want, mine are mainly 4.5 inches square.
I use them as a foundation, and then I can cut the squares to the shape I want, after trimming them.

Some pieces are really hard to sew to another piece if they happen to be less then an inch wide, some of our scrapes have narrow ends and are wider at the top.
makes it easier to get a more scrappy look. Well for me anyways.

Lets see what some others have to say about it also.

some scrap strips can have bias sides and the paper also helps keep those bias sides from stretching.

Annika; Do you mean paper piecing? If so I have been playing around with it for a bit and I love how you can get such accurate points with it. It can be hard to figure out at first and I have done a lot of unsewing but I must say it is fun!|Good luck ...Val
