    Default Rum Raisin Bali Pop

Hello everyone... I hope your new year has been happy and healthy. Ours has been very happy but not so healthy as I've had 2 colds and my DH had pneumonia. He's better now but poor guy had a rough few weeks.

I'm finally back to quilting ... after almost a year's break. I just lost interest and didn't know what to do to get back on track. I pulled out some scraps and forced myself to make a couple of table runners.... and that's all it took lol. I'm loving it again!

I've been wanting to make a quilt using bali pops and I found these on sale for $29 and bought two. Originally I thought of making a friendship braid and sashing and bordering it in black. I just wondered if you had any other ideas, for these pretty fabrics. Here's a link so you can see the gorgeous colors.

I'm eager to hear your opinions...

I love the Rum Raisin! It would look great in any quilt. Are you looking for something easy? Summer in the park would be nice, or that new tutorial...Phoebie's garden I think is the name. Be sure to post when you are done; I'd love to see what you did.

Just started making quilt with the rum raisin bali pops and a layer cake. I used an Eleanor Burns pattern for the Early Firecracker or Autograph block. I have sewn half of them wrong and created a whole other pattern, I am calling it "This or That". I kind of like the arrows it made so I just left them.
To quilt or not to quilt?.....what a ridiculous question!

Ha, I like that. I think it has a lot more interest to it than a bunch of autograph blocks lined up. There are arrows, hourglasses, all kinds of things to look at!

That is an excellent price on the Bali pops, my quilt store sells them for the $40.00 price. I have the brown sugar one, haven't made anything with it as yet still looking for the perfect project.

I love those strip colors. I think your quilt top is looking good! I like the arrows.

Wow, don't tempt me with any more jelly roll collections! I have several so far unused Bali pop collections, I love them!

One thing I was thinking aobut the Phoebe quilt, would you have to have a more or less equal number of lights and darks to make that effective? I found a jelly roll in my collection while I was cleaning out my closet that has about 1/4 darks and 3/4 lights. I wonder if that would work making Phoebe's quilt? I really want to try that quilt block pattern. Am willing to sacrifice this jelly roll to experiementation, beccause I can't remember what on earth I had in mind to do with it.

If you look at some of these images, you will see some that have more of one value over the other and it might give you an idea of how it will look. This is a similar pattern called Sparking Gemstones.

Wow ladies, not only are you helpful but you are mind readers too. I mentioned the friendship braid but the other quilts two on my list were Phoebe's Garden from Jenny's tutorial and Sparking Gemstones from my copy of Jellyroll Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintot.

I'm with you Cathy, these Bali Pops are so pretty .. I hesitate to open up the package even.

Sassy I really love your quilt just the way it is. It's gorgeous!

Thanks all for sharing... I'll post a photo as soon as I decide what to do ...

    Hugss
