My husband says, he's going to have a garage sale after I'm gone. My stuff is too good for a garage sale!!! He really has no idea how much money he has invested in my machines and fabrics. I think I'll get busy sewing now.

How funny, Jackie~~~my hubby, on the other hand, knows exactly how much is invested in machines and fabrics. He complains everytime the credit cards come in!! LOL I told him it was an investment as next year fabric will be higher in cost!! What a con, eh? LOL I want all my fabrics and machines to go to someone who really needs them---like RFREE!! She appreciates everything she gets and can't afford a lot. I don't have any dil's that like to sew so it is "not in the family" they all go. But, as you said, "I better get busy sewing NOW!!" LOL Thanks for your post!! Piece and blessings, Vicki
P.S. My hubby threatens with garage sales, also. Fabric goes really cheap at those things. V

I agree with Lisa!! Also, if you have WAY more supplies than you will ever use, why not start giving them away, a bit at a time, now? Your local senior center might like it. A couple of years ago I gave away several boxes of scrapbooking supplies to the nursing home where my DD#10 was volunteering, and they were so grateful. If you have the time, you could also volunteer at a local Boys/Girls club, teach those young 'uns how to hand-piece and use some of your stash to make a big wall hanging for the organization! They would be so proud to see it whenever they came in, and you would have done something truly worthwhile.

Steve already knows that all my stuff goes to my oldest daughter....after all, she taught me the basics of quilting and she can't afford to buy so I share with her now and she knows she will inherit everything I have and I know that she will probably share it with the ladies in her church which is fine by me!

Can't say I have ever thought of this. Pretty sure DD would end up with most of it, but she wouldn't have any idea what to do with it. I am not getting any younger so I do however need to get it all in some order. Jean once told me I could have her stash if she goes before me, lol. I wouldn't know where to put it all.

As others have said, put it in a will. This is the best advice. Hubby can't legally go against your will. If he's not interested in the money for himself then specifically indicate who the money will go to. My husband loves my work and he will want them all that are still here for himself, and my son and grandchildren will cherish them as a reminder of me...but as far as the materials and other tools of trade so to speak, I'm donating what my family doesn't want to my guild to auction off for their own benefit. After my grandmother passed away, my son wanted her treadle, the tiny bits of fabric, and buttons. He's sentimental like that. ...but if no one wants your sewing items then who better to have them than other quilters who will enjoy them.

Step one put it in the will
    Step two get busy quilting
Step three leave him directions on how to get to this forum and we can have the auction here LOL
    Thank you,
