That style quilt is one of those someday quilts for me. They are beautiful.

One of the technique books and rulers I received in the mail this week is the Kaleidoscope from Marti Michell. I bought the larger ruler but thinking I'll get the smaller one also, I've read thru the book and it definitely makes it easier
Marti Michell explains it well in her videos here:

You can also use Bethany Reynolds "Stack N Whack" technique to make kaleidoscope quilts.
I also have Marti Michells book / ruler, another quilt on my to do list .....I so love the way they look.
Remember, people will see your quilts long after you are gone. . . Not your housework!!

Oh, and remember, once you start thinking of trying kaleidoscope or stack and whack, keep your eyes peeled on the specials tables for striped fabric. I tend not to use the wide floral stripes in quilts, bit too much like cheating with panels, but for this they're perfect. Especially for your first attempt, rather than cutting your wedges from pieced strip sets and having seams to match up, the stripe does all the work for a really effective block. I know I have a few metres of a very pretty chocolate with roses stripe there, I think the stripes are about 3" wide. That'll be a kaleidoscope for sure!!
