How would you quilt this? SITD or FMQ?
Ok. I am nervous about posting this cause my Mom comes on here from time to time and this is a gift for her however since I need some input on quilting this I am going to risk it... This is a scrappy diamond table runner with a garden theme fabric. The green represents grass, brown dirt, yellow sun, blue water and everything else is flowers and gardening. She is are really really good sewer from clothing, quilting, home dec ~ just everything but when the spring time comes, she is in the garden! So I hope she likes this, But... should I SITD or FMQ?

What about lines of waves instead of SID ? That will look like furrows then ..

Re: How would you quilt this? SITD or FMQ?
Hi Jess, What about a random leafy FMQ pattern to go with the garden theme or loopy de loops with an occasional flower design.
Very pretty table runner too!

That is really pretty. I think I would do STID with that. Your mom will love it.

Re: How would you quilt this? SITD or FMQ?
Personally, because of the shape of the pieces, I'd SITD. BUT often times, I'll get in the mood to do some creative FMQ, and just go with it.

Re: How would you quilt this? SITD or FMQ?
Your mum will love her runner, the colours are lovely. I have just started to make my daughter a quilt and it is exactly the same pattern as yours, large diamonds. I will be SITD mine or outline quilting it (think that's the right term) but that's because I can't FMQ yet, so straight lines it has to be for the time being.

Fantastic table runner! Quilt it the way you want--however you do it, it's still a winner!

Re: How would you quilt this? SITD or FMQ?
this is a real winner... lucky MOM....
i like to stitch "PFW"(presser foot width" along each seam line... i think it would look wonderful on this runner..

Re: How would you quilt this? SITD or FMQ?
I like that. I've been thinking about doing a quilt with small, scrappy triangles.
You could echo quilt it tool. If not, I think SITD would work well.

I LOVE that! I just that ruler in the mail two day's ago :) I sort of like the idea of the wavy lines along the lines. It will be great no matter!

Hehe, I wish there I had a pattern but it turned out ok without it! I dont know where I came across this pattern book but I decided to just "steal" the picture and then cropped the photo and went with it. The triangle die I used was much smaller than what the pattern actually used cause I have more columns of triangles than in the picture.Attachment 38077Attachment 38078 Mine obviously is much scrappier looking though but I like how it turned out I think.

I have no opinion; do whatever you enjoy doing. Just wanted to tell you how great it looks! Beautiful job.

Re: How would you quilt this? SITD or FMQ?
I'd STID. It will be quick because you can pivot on the edge points and not stop/start so much. Jenny did it in her zigzag table runner tutorial.

I would SITD, and make cross hatch in the light diamonds to help punch up the colors.
