    Default Janome DC2012 or DC3050

I am looking to upgrade from my almost 12yo Janome 4612TM. Does anyone have a Janome DC2012 or the DC3050? I did a forum search, but only saw a couple references to them.

Or are there any other machines you would recommend under $500? I was also looking at the Brother Project Runway PC420 for $399. I wasn't sure if the Janome would be worth the extra money or not.

I don't really have the option of getting out and testing a bunch of different machines so I'm hoping you all can help me out.

I just know the PRW doesn't have a very big throat space. Sis has one. Don't know about the Janome's throat space. Could make a difference in what you decide.

What about the Singer One? It has 7" of throat space plus a7" extension table. It is about $250. I have the 160 Anniversary edition and so does Annika, which has been replaced by the Singer One. Joanns had them on sale a week or so ago for $239. I got mine on Amazon for $250. You can drop the feed dogs, but it doesn't have a needle down option. Mine sews well. If Annika is doing her FMQing on this machine, she is really doing well with it

I have a Kenmore by Janome and the PRW 420....I really like both of them. I use them for piecing and general sewing. I have quilted on them too...but they do have small throats.

I wish the throat space was part of the specs listed online for the machines! From searching, it looks like the Brother 420 has a 7.5" throat space. I couldn't find measurements for the Janome machines. Unfortunately, machines with a larger throat space are probably out of my budget anyway. I'm a newbie quilter so I don't want to spend very much right now. My $500 budget is really more than I probably should spend

Jean - I will have to check out the Singer One. Thanks for the suggestion as I have not heard of it before.
