Please make sure that the package says WASHABLE and use the markers not the crayons.
Cool idea about using the ones for dark paper.

I mark on tissue paper and pin it on (or Goldenthreads paper). On light colors, I use the wash-away blue pen. On dark fabrics I use the pounce chalk with stencils (using a foam brush to apply the chalk).
To mark directly on fabric, my new favorite is tailor's chalk. I got a 12 pack from Nancy's notions. I gave up on the mechanical chalk pencil...it was too frustrating when the chalk kept pushing back up the barrel. I love the Crayola washable markers, but do not mark directly on the fabric. I did try it at the edges , but it didn't come out, so I don't use it that way. I do use it to mark patterns on either golden threads paper or sulky solvy. Either of those, you quilt thru and tear it away after (sulky solvy washes away). I do not use the glad press & seal wrap because my stitches can be small sometimes and it's hard to pick the little bits out even with tweezers.
