Need 2 Color Quilt Pattern

My sister in law wants me to make her a quilt...no problem, right??? Well she only wants me to use burgandys and dark chocolates in the quilt. What are some patterns that I can use with 2 dark fabrics? Most I've seen call for a light and dark somewhere in the quilt.

hmm, any pattern can become a two color quilt. I am stumped here but perhaps a simple log cabin?

What about a variety of burgundy and chocolate prints? Some slight variations in shades and different tone on tone prints? You can really build up the depth and increase your options of patterns by staying in the basic 2 color groups but mixing it up with different fabrics.

Hmmmm....sounds like wine and chocolate.....I would ask her if she would like a little cream with that! haha

I did a log cabin once with only two fabrics and I hated it. Just not enough contrast. That is going to be a really dark quilt. Maybe you could talk her into at least one light fabric.

Scroll down to the Kaleidoscope post in July to see a rust and brown quilt using multiple fabrics with a small cream light color to help separate the two darks. You could still achieve the overall feel of just burgundy and chocolate colors using a similar method with multiple fabrics.

Normally when I hear two colors, I automatically think of chevron, or D4P. However, the wine and chocolate are two dark colors. If you did a chevron, it wouldn't pop like a normal chevron. I don't know if that color combination would work for a Jacob's Ladder or an Irish Chain.

Can you talk her into at least one cream?

I like the idea of using prints in those colors, pick one with the color of choice with a cream backround.

Couple of weeks ago I made this on, it is two colors, I did dark and light, but I can see this pattern in your colors also.

Jacobs ladder quilt is wonderful in 2 or 3 colors. Would try to add a little cream, otherwise it will be really dark and poor contrast.
