Ann, I love the pointed Dresdens and they are made by putting the right sides of the wide end together and sewing from the cut edge to the fold. Use something pointy to push the point out and press, centering the seam. When you sew the individual blades together, begin sewing from the pointed end toward the center, just in case you're off a little. Any boo-boo's will be covered up by the center circle.
