Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
HI Everyone, I found this block, I have created a beautiful quilt, but I haven't a clue as how to construct the darn thing. I have looked at paper piecing and it wont work for that, The only thing I can think about is construct it like a log cabin.. but in some ways that wont work.. any ideas. EQ calls it Feburarys Finest. Cant find that name anywhere.. here is a picture of the block.

Re: Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
I would construct it like a Delectable Mt. Block. Hope that helps.
Re: Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
wow...that's pretty. It looks like, except for the 4 center triangles on the sides, you could just make strip sets of cream/blue, & cream/gold(brown). how big is the block? It looks like you could do this easily with a jelly roll (I mean just using 2.5" strips) & adding set in triangles on the 4 side centers
I think I may have seen this b4.....I'll do some internet hunting ....
Re: Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
I said the same thing when I saw this, How in the heck do you do that? I think I figured out how.
Got it--make sub parts then connect it together with the center strip
Blue with white HST end, then brown with HST end and white cornerstone--first part
opposite brown with HST end, sew to full white triangle. Connect these two pieces together.
Sew this to Blue with HST end and white cornerstone. Makes one subset.
Make the other three subsets.
Connect two subsets together with a brown and long white strip. Do this with the other two subsets.
Connect these two parts tobether with a long strip--long white, short brown, white cornerstone, short brown, long white.
I think that connects them all without any wierd seams, y seams, half sewn seams.
See if it works.
Do you have measurements? We could try it if we knew measurements.

here's another version on craftsy: http://www.craftsy.com/project/view/...st-quilt/31228 it's called a rainbow mexican star, & there is a free pattern available.

So beyond my current patience level. Very beautiful though.

I don't know if I understand what you were saying, Jean, but sounds good to me. LOL Can't wait to see who makes this block---I love it!! Piece and blessings, Vicki
P.S. I never heard of "Delectable Mtns."====have you, Jean?
Re: Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
Thanks, jingleme, for finding out the other name for this and more so for finding the pattern to make it. I love it and want to include it in a quilt. Piece and blessings, Vicki

No,I have no clue what that is. The Mexican star is simpler, I can figure that out right away. Besides that one came with directions. It really is pretty.
Re: Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
Lordy you gals do get yourselves some intricate pattern ideas... i like this,,, and was thinking that some of it (Jean this is your type thinking),,,, could be constucted using the method that one of Jenny's new Video's on YouTube showed, using the "binding tool"... to get the R and L cuts... what do you think???
Just stabbing in the dark... :)GB
Re: Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
Babs, that sounds like it would work just fine....kind of ingenious!

Wow, I thought that I had created this block all by myself. Guess great minds...
I created this quilt with EQ4, long time ago and came across it when I was poking around converting files for EQ7. Here is the quilt.

It is set on point and currently the blocks are 12 inches finished, but that makes each one of the strips 1.20 inches, so I need to do a little refining on the finished size of the block so the strips are finished 1 inch.
I also haven't a clue as to how to construct the center square.. that is why this pattern has been sitting on the back burner for several years.
Ideas?
Re: Beautiful Block, haven't a clue as how to create it!
it looks similar to the mexican star block I have this saved on my computer but haven't gotten to it yet

This block looks similar. Yours has an extra strip in the middle, the beige one. Maybe her instructions could help you with making this block.

That is gorgeous!!! I think if you just added another strip section to the one on Craftsy, it would be the same.
