    Default batting requirements

I'm working on another Irish chain and want to leave the backgroung blocks unquilted, or as much as possible. I'm using Hobbs 80/20 batting which says maximum spacing 3.5". The current unquilted space is 4.25". Am I asking for trouble if I leave it as it is? I want this throw as soft and snuggly as possible with minimum quilting.

I think you would be ok. I imagine their recommendation is at the low end.

I did a sitch in the ditch around my background blocks and it was fine.
    Thank you,

If you are worried about it I would do an echo of the block on the inside.....about 1/4 to 1/2 in and that would help and still keep the block open...make sense!
