    Default quilt for my mom

I want to make a lil lap quilt for my mom, but I'm not sure what one to do...I'm a beginner and I have only made a rag quilt (almost finished then I'll show pics) but now I want to make one for her, but all the easy tutorials I can find are for like babies and kids and not really for a mature woman...any ideas?

Check out Jenny's tutorials. She's got several that are easy.

Hey Kapree -- it's only that fabric that makes it look "baby" like -- Get a lovely print in colors that go with where she likes to sit and you can still use one of the Easy Tutorials. Very Easy is a Jelly Roll quilt -- a nice lap size in various colors she'll love!

Good luck and can't wait to see photo's!

Ohh another thought, check out the album pictures to see if any Strike your fancy - the style or fabrics and someone will help you figure out that pattern and/or fabrics.

Disappearing 9 patch is really easy and turns out nice.

I agree with Debbie........it's the fabric print or style that will give the quilt the look that you want. A D9P or Rail fence are pretty easy.

My first quilt was a paper pieced quilt. There is one that Jenny does that is simple, but looks like you spent a bunch of time on it. I found my paper piecing easy and fun!

I was gonna say what Debbie said. The fabric is what makes the quilt. D9P is super easy to do. Even a simple charm quilt with the right choice of fabrics would be good. As long as you pic out non childish fabrics, your quilt won't look like it is for a baby.

A disappearing 9 patch would be great...it's the fabrics that make it mature or childish... chose your mom's favorite colors and go from there.

Any pattern or block you like can be changed from a baby or child project to an adult project by changing the fabrics. Even the tumbling block quilt.

    Cool! Thanks for sharing this.

I am just curious, Jenny says you can use charm packs if you'd like. I was wondering if anyone has done a quilt top (lap size quilt) with charm packs like she said you can? If so, how many did you use up as far as a charm pack goes?

    Thanks.
